Origin Story
It began in 2008 The One World Photography Contest, hosted on my studio414.com photography site. At the time, it was a simple idea, create a space where photographers from around the world could submit and be seen. Over time, it grew far beyond what I originally imagined.
Thousands of photographers from over 1,000 locations around the world participated. What started as a contest slowly became something else entirely, a global visual archive shaped by participation rather than competition.
Eventually, the project moved into its own space as the oneworldphotocontest.com, where it continued to grow and refine itself.
And now, it is entering its next evolution:
The One World Photo Collective
This new phase is not about winning or losing.
It is about seeing.
It is a living global archive of photography presented through:
- Curated thematic cycles
- Ambient visual films
- Featured photographic collections
- An evolving record of images from around the world
The focus is shifting from competition to creations, from judgment to exhibition, and from prizes to presence.
To honor where this began, the archive will now include stories and original work from the earliest years of the project. These early works represent the foundation of what this has become, a long, ongoing exploration of how people see the world.
To everyone who has participated over the years: Thank you! This work exists because of you!
It is the continuation of the same world, finally seen as a whole.
